The bay is less crowded compared to other tourist spots, providing a more serene experience.
📍Playa Pescadores
Location: at the southern end of the Tulum hotel zone, adjacent to the historic Tulum archaeological site.
It’s part of the larger Ascension Bay, renowned for its diverse marine life and pristine waters.
Features: Playa Pescadores is a popular beach spot for locals and tourists alike, with clear blue waters and a soft sandy beach. It is also a departure point for various water activities, including snorkeling, diving, and fishing trips.
Some species you can find in this area are Bonefish, Mahi Mahi,
Marlin and Sailfish, Red Snapper, Permit Pursuit, Tarpon; Coastal tarpon fishing is excellent from March through July. These silver kings are known for their aerial acrobatics and strength.
The Tulum ruins, perched on cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea, add historical and scenic value to the area. While not directly related to spearfishing, they’re worth exploring during your visit.
📍Sirenis Xaac
location: 25min from Tulum, is a lesser-known but potentially rewarding spot for spearfishing.
This spot offers access to the reef and nearby underwater environments. The waters around Sirenis Xaac are typically clear and warm, ideal for spearfishing and snorkeling.
Similar to other areas along the Mesoamerican Reef, you can expect to encounter a variety of fish species such as snapper, grouper, and possibly invasive lionfish. Coral formations and other marine life are also present.
