Akumal means \u2018Place of the Turtle\u2019 in Mayan- a special place, not so crowded, where endangered sea turtles nest & feed on the seagrass. The sea bottom in Akumal bay is covered with their favorite treat: seagrass and they dive to eat it. Many local programs protect the turtles during their nesting period (May-November). The turtles you’d see there are endangered and the local & tourists swim with due respect to their environment and peace. You can see both Green turtles and loggerhead turtles there. The INAH reef, where we’d take you is one of the most amazing reefs in Riviera Maya – there are many sea turtles, rays and colourful fishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
